RIAC National Classic Car Show Returns to the RDS on the 1st and 2nd March 2014.

The organisers of the Royal Irish Automobile Club National Classic Car Show announced today that the prestigious event will return to the Simmonscourt Hall at the Royal Dublin Society Showgrounds in Dublin on the 1st and 2nd March 2014.

The inaugural show last February saw huge numbers attend the RDS to see one of the most unique collections of classic cars ever gathered together in Ireland. Vehicles that were displayed included some of the rarest examples of their marque. Exit polls showed one of the highest satisfaction ratings ever recorded at an event in the RDS and this prompted organisers to proceed with an all new show in 2014 and thereafter every two years.

Show Director Bob Montgomery: “Following the success of the 2013 Show, the decision was taken to organize the Show again in 2014 after which it will be held every second year alternating in the RDS with the Bike Show. The 2013 Show demonstrated to us the wealth of variety of classic cars that exist in Ireland and I have no hesitation in saying that the 2014 Show will be entirely new and to the same high standard the first Show established. We will have significantly more space available and have exciting plans as to how it will be filled.”

Work has begun already and the organisers are in contact with collectors throughout Europe as well as in Ireland to bring together a whole new show. If its rare, unusual, attractive or just plain interesting they will try to get it.

Highlighting the success of the previous event AXA insurance have renewed their support for the show and will remain as headline sponsors.

Myles O’Reilly from AXA Insurance said: “We are delighted to re-affirm our support for the RIAC National Classic Car show, in 2014. Following on from the great success of this years show, the plans for next year’s event really excite us, and will give us great opportunities to meet customers, enthusiasts, their clubs, as well as fellow supporters. The RIAC are to be commended for their commitment to Irish historic motoring, and we welcome also, the involvement again of Irish Vintage Scene Magazine, and the Irish Veteran and Vintage Car Club, whose support underlines the importance of this event. AXA look forward to meeting you at the show next year.”

Chairman of the Royal Irish Automobile Club, Cecil Sparks, noted that the event is something that will attract not only the enthusiast but also their families and friends. “Every effort is being made to create a brand new show that will be even bigger and better than in 2013 with many new additions to enhance the overall spectacle. We want to create an event that classic car enthusiasts can get up close to cars that they could only previously dream of ever seeing in the flesh while at the same time ensuring that non enthusiasts also have plenty to attract them as well. I have every confidence that our team will achieve this.”

Michael Duff, Honorary Secretary of the Irish Veteran and Vintage Car Club said:
“Following on from the great success of the 2013 show, the IVVCC is delighted to be involved in next year’s event which promises to be bigger and better in many aspects. The backbone of our hobby are the enthusiasts who collect, restore and drive historic vehicles and the RIAC Classic Car Show provides the ultimate venue for these enthusiasts. Whether your interest is in cars from the very dawn of motoring or rally cars from the eighties, you will be assured of having your appetite satisfied. From the IVVCC’s perspective, having clubs from all over the country assembled in one spot provides a wonderful opportunity for enthusiasts to meet old friends and indeed make new ones. We are delighted at the prospect of seeing many of our affiliated clubs in attendance and also the opportunity to see large numbers of vehicles that would normally never be assembled together under one roof. We look forward to working with the RIAC, AXA and Irish Vintage Scene magazine in promoting our hobby through this wonderful event and on our own stand we will be displaying a variety of vehicles from some rare early cars to a number of everyday classics that everybody will have fond memories of.”

Irelands premier, domestically produced classic car magazine, IRISH VINTAGE SCENE, has once again lent its notable support to the event. Tom Heavey, Managing Editor of Irish Vintage Scene, says: “We are honoured to be involved in the second running of the RIAC National Classic Car Show. Last year’s inaugural show was a runaway success, and the 2014 event promises to be even bigger and better. We look forward to working once again with the RIAC, AXA Insurance and the IVVCC in organising this flagship event, which promises to become not only our hobby’s national showcase, but an international showcase for the hobby here in Ireland. Finally both myself and all the Irish Vintage Scene staff look forward to seeing you at the show in the RDS on the 1st and 2nd of March next.”

For spectacular displays of truly amazing classic cars and entertainment for all the family, visit The RIAC National Classic Car Show 1st and 2nd March 2014.
