Tipperary Vintage & Custom Rally is not just a car and tractor rally, we are a fun family day out trying to cater for young and old alike.
Held at Tipperary Racecourse, Limerick Junction, Tipperary on the N24.
We value any constructive feedback.  Messages can be left via e-mail on the contacts page.
We are a non-profit making organization donating all monies after expenses to charity organizations, South Tipperary Hospice being the main beneficiary.
The past 3 years have seen a new section of modified cars and they have been a very successful and welcome addition to the rally.
On Easter Saturday we have the Trip Thro Tipp which is a motorbike day rounded off by a trip around some of the most beautiful scenery of Tipperary.
Easter Sunday is the main family fun day and static rally with cars, trucks, tractors, bikes, stationary engines, modified cars, trade stands, stalls, crafts, dog show, entertainment and stunt air craft subject to weather conditions.
Along with food stalls, we have a cafeteria serving full hot meals, hard standing in some areas, ample toilets with baby changing facilities and disabled parking.

MALAHIDE CLASSIC & VINTAGE MOTOR SHOW
and family fun event

Put the date in your diary – Sunday 18th May 2014
Venue – The Grand Hotel, Malahide

MALAHIDE CLASSIC & VINTAGE CAR SHOW will take place on Sunday 18 May in the Grand Hotel, Malahide in aid of St. Francis Hospice and other causes.
Full details and registration on our website where photos of last year’s highly successful Show can also be found.
We would be most grateful if you could pass this on to your members.
Kind regards and many thanks.

Malahide Lions Club are indebted to Matt Ryan of the Grand Hotel for hosting our 3rd Classic & Vintage Show in the grounds of The Grand Hotel.

Come along and bring the family for a fun day out in the birthplace of Irish Motoring. There will be refreshment facilities available, music and children’s entertainment, ….. everything for a great day out! Admission to view our Car Show is just €5 per adult, and €10 per family.

Exhibitors, Malahide Lions Club have looked at the possibilities of staging our show in a number of locations. For us as a charity raising funds we must be able to control access, maximise the public footfall and charge the public an admission fee. This rules out other sites in the Malahide area and so it has been decided that, despite some limitations, the Grand Hotel remains the best choice.

It has many advantages – easy traffic flow, paved surface throughout, shelter (in the event of poor weather) and an amazing sit down proper meal for all drivers. This year we will facilitate meals for drivers’ companions provided they are pre-booked.

We will be making some changes to maximise the capacity of the site (but we will not be using the underground car park). Capacity will be still be limited  so to avoid being turned away on the day it is essential that you pre-book your place as soon as possible..

Now it is YOUR chance to display your Classic or Vintage car in the birthplace of Irish Motoring – The Grand Hotel.

Car Show Winner

                                                       Car of the Show 2013
1904 Speedwell

as voted by drivers’ ballot

Of course, the Grand Hotel has been involved in motoring in Ireland from the very beginning.

“Dr. John Fallon Sidney Colohan bought the Grand Hotel in 1910, for £10,000. Dr. Colohan was the pioneer of motoring in Ireland and was recognised as a leading motor expert. In 1898 he imported the first petrol driven car into Ireland. In 1902 his Daimler Car was admitted to be the smartest and fastest of its type in Dublin. The Benz Comfortable was the first motor car he imported into Ireland and it has been featured in the Irish Motor Classic Stamps, issued in April 1989. Dr. Colophon’s Benz has survived and in 1985 it was purchased by Denis Dowdall of Irish Motor Distributors and fully restored.

WORLD RECORD ATTEMPT

March 30th, 2014

TRACTOR 2

If you have a tractor, the Order of Malta wants to see it in Thurles next month. The charity is attempting to break a Guinness world record for having the largest number of tractors in one place.

Canadian farmers took part in a parade of 1,231 tractors to set the record in 2010 but the Order of Malta is aiming to get 5,000 tractors to Thurles racecourse on April 27th.

Its head of fundraising and communications Sharon Edge Kane said the money raised would fund the charity’s ambulance corps and help to fit out a new first-aid training centre in Thurles.

The Order of Malta’s ambulance corps provides first aid and ambulance transport services at public and community events. Some 4,000 members work with more than 80 units, North and South.

The challenge was launched in Thurles last night with the support of former Munster rugby players John Hayes and Denis Leamy, as well as Tipperary hurlers Brendan Maher, Padraic Maher and Lar Corbett.

Maher, the Tipperary hurling team captain, said he was very familiar with the work of the ambulance corps.

“They were at all of the 38 matches in Semple Stadium last year, providing vital medical back-up to crowds of over 35,000.”
