One of Europe’s largest farming festivals and a showcase for all aspects of rural life. Featuring national ploughing finals in tractor, vintage and horse ploughing, an 80 acre trade show of agriculture machinery, livestock, lifestyle, leisure, forestry, bio-energy, home, garden, food fair, craft village. Special events like vintage threshing and exhibition, hunt chase, fashion shows, cookery and craft demonstrations. Topical seminars, traditional entertainment, loy digging. A packed programme of events for 3 days including launches, competitions, celebrity guests, numerous live radio and television broadcasts and a tremendous atmosphere. A visit is a unique experience for all.

Unique to the event this year, on day two and three of the National Ploughing Championships, the NPA will host the European Reversible Ploughing Contest for the first time. The competition will attract twenty six competitors from thirteen countries. Two competitors will compete from Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Sweden and Denmark.

Irish Vintage Scene at the National Ploughing Championships

Once again Irish Vintage Scene Magazine will have their trade stand at this year’s National Ploughing Championships, which takes place in Athy, Co. Kildare from Tuesday the 20th to Thursday the 22nd of September. Also this year the Irish Vintage Scene Ferguson 20-Build Challenge will be on hand, neighbouring the magazine’s trade stand on Row H at Stands 220 and 221; these are on the main thoroughfare from Gate 4, close to the vintage display area and main catering arena. This year Irish Vintage Scene will have a number of special offers on the stand at the event, including a free polo shirt with every new subscription taken out over the three days, plus a free back issue when you buy the current issue. There will also be a once-off clearance sale of back issues of the magazine, so if you’re at the event then don’t miss out, and be sure to call over to say hi to Tom, Andrew and Carl, who will be on the stand over the three days. Don’t forget that the tractor-build challenge will take place each day, with two new ladies’ teams competing on Tuesday and Wednesday, with the main builds taking place at 10am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 4pm each day.
