Castledermot, Co. Kildare will host its 5th Annual Vintage Day on Sunday, 25th September 2011, for what promises to be a great day out for all the family.
The show takes place at a new venue this year on the Corcoran farm at Gorteengrone (on R448 Castledermot-Carlow Road). This is just off the M9 motorway, exit 4.
Come and see traditional threshing from yesteryear, steam engines, tractor-pulling, and a large vintage working and display area. You can also view traditional crafts such as weaving and butter-making.
There will be lots to entertain all, including funfair, pony rides, dog show, pet farm and lots of stalls to interest all.
A day not to be missed. Admission is only €5 with children under-16 free. For those interested, there will be a bus providing transport from Castledermot to the farm throughout the day.
Also, join us on Saturday evening, 24th September for a “Parade of Steam” through Castledermot, followed by a barbeque and music at The Castle Inn, Castledermot.
Proceeds of the day go to charity. Castledermot Vintage Club has donated €89,000 to charities in the last four years. This year’s main beneficiaries are The Luke Renehan Fund and Cancer Homecare. The former is a trust fund to send 20-month old Luke Renehan from Co. Kildare abroad for stem-cell treatment. This will hopefully give Luke, who suffers from cerebral palsy, the chance to walk, talk, and enjoy a better quality of life.
