Grand Prix Cars take to the Streets of Limerick

On the weekend of September 3rd and 4th the Limerick Classic and Vintage Car Club, (LCVCC), host an event for pre 1940 sports cars to mark the 75th anniversary of the 1936 Limerick Grand Prix. An afternoon run on Saturday will be followed by a gala dinner that evening. Sunday will begin with the cars completing several laps of the original race circuit with a garda escort. The cars will then park up in the picturesque Pery Sq. area of the city. Lunch will be served in the No.1 Pery Sq. hotel followed by an exhibition of memorabilia, photos and programmes from the original race in No.2 Pery Sq., a Georgian house, recently restored by the Limerick Civic Trust. A plaque will be unveiled as a permanent reminder of these ‘Round the Houses’ races.

The LCVCC would like to thank all the IVVCC members that took part last year and invite all pre 1940 sports cars to this year’s event as this will be the last opportunity to lap this historic circuit. Thanks are also due to the Limerick City Council, Limerick Civic Trust and the Gardai without whose cooperation this event would not be possible.
